On May 25, a first-instance court in Curaçao annulled two trademarks for Aviator, registered by the Georgian company Aviator LLC. This decision comes as part of an ongoing dispute over the rights to the brand associated with the popular crash game developed by provider Spribe.
Aviator LLC challenged the rights to the brand but did not appear in court, leading to a decision being made in absentia. The annulled trademarks include international registrations IR 1822051 and IR 1827771, which were registered in Curaçao under the Madrid Protocol.
Spribe holds an earlier local registration for Aviator from August 2023 and informed the court that it had not consented to these registrations. According to reports, Spribe has filed over 120 objections worldwide against Aviator LLC's applications and their registrations in various countries. The dispute over brand rights is also ongoing in Georgia, the EU, the UK, Brazil, and South Africa.
