Caesars Entertainment has broadened its collaboration with three Wabanaki Nations in Maine to encompass online casino gaming, setting the stage for a possible iGaming launch in 2026, subject to regulatory approvals.
As part of this partnership, Caesars will join forces with the Houlton Band of Maliseet Indians, the Mi'kmaq Nation, and the Penobscot Nation to introduce three online casino brands in the state: Caesars Palace Online Casino, Caesars Sportsbook & Casino, and Horseshoe Online Casino.
This expansion follows the successful launch of Caesars Sportsbook in Maine in 2023 and comes after the state granted the Wabanaki Nations the authority to conduct online gambling under legislation enacted earlier this year.
The upcoming online casino platforms will feature a variety of slot games, table games, and live dealer options, seamlessly integrating with Caesars' existing sportsbook services through a unified login and wallet system powered by the Universal Digital Wallet.
Players will also have the opportunity to earn and redeem rewards via Caesars Rewards, the company's loyalty program.
“As we prepare for the launch of online casino gaming in Maine, we’re excited to deepen our partnership with the Houlton Band of Maliseet Indians, the Mi’kmaq Nation, and the Penobscot Nation,” stated Eric Hession, President of Caesars Digital.
“Together, we have established a robust and responsible sports betting experience, and this next step reinforces our commitment to our tribal partners and to providing a unique, localized digital gaming experience for the people of Maine.”
Caesars is also planning to invest in workforce development initiatives, which will include training and job opportunities for tribal members, as well as financial contributions to community programs and projects.
Chief Kirk Francis of the Penobscot Nation remarked that the partnership has already shown positive results through their sports wagering operations.
“Our collaboration on sports wagering has highlighted the importance of partnering with an organization that respects our sovereignty, understands our communities, and is dedicated to the long-term success of the Wabanaki Nations,” said Francis.
Chief Sheila McCormack of the Mi'kmaq Nation added, “Venturing into online casino gaming enables us to continue generating economic opportunities for our people while ensuring that any future platform is developed responsibly and in a well-regulated manner that benefits both the tribes and the state.”
Chief Clarissa Sabattis of the Houlton Band of Maliseet Indians emphasized that “Internet gaming revenues will provide our tribal government with a more stable, long-term income source that will help us deliver essential services and invest in critical community infrastructure.”
