On February 13, the Amsterdam court in the Netherlands ordered a former employee of the iGaming operator BetCity (Betent B.V.) to compensate for damages amounting to €495,900. This was due to the unjustified issuance of free bets to four clients who provided their accounts for the scheme.
The employee intentionally bypassed internal procedures and facilitated the withdrawal of funds below the fraud control threshold. The total amount transferred to gaming accounts reached €401,600.
The court recognized the actions as deliberate and rejected the defense's arguments regarding insufficient oversight by BetCity and the presence of gambling addiction in the defendant. The amount of personal liability exceeded €158,000, and he will pay an additional €86,000 jointly with one of the players.
