AGA's Bill Miller Criticizes CFTC Chair Over Prediction Markets

On May 5, during a meeting at the Economic Club of Las Vegas held at Park MGM, Bill Miller, the head of the American Gaming Association (AGA), criticized Michael Selig, the Chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), calling him a laughingstock due to his stance on prediction market platforms.

Miller pointed out that during hearings in the Senate Agriculture Committee, Selig had promised not to comment on the jurisdiction of prediction markets, leaving the decision to the courts and Congress. However, after taking office, he began actively supporting this segment, and under his leadership, the CFTC initiated lawsuits against states.

The AGA, along with tribal nations and state attorneys general, is engaged in legal battles regarding prediction markets across the country. Mike Dryczar, Chairman of the Nevada Gaming Control Board, also spoke at the meeting, stating that prediction markets pose a greater threat to the casino industry than sports betting. He warned about the potential emergence of unregulated and untaxed gaming machines based on prediction market algorithms in the U.S.
