In the United States, Senators John Curtis and Adam Schiff have sent an official letter to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) demanding explanations regarding the agency's actions related to the marketing schemes of the prediction market platform Polymarket. This follows an investigation by The Wall Street Journal into the advertising of fictitious winnings.
The senators believe that Polymarket has been promoting an offshore platform, which is banned in the U.S., to American users through proxy websites and content creators. They also stated that the CFTC is inadequately enforcing the law and is ill-equipped to fulfill its role as a federal regulator in the gambling sector.
