The Ukrainian regulator PlayCity has released the results of the second phase of its study on the impact of gambling on society. Conducted by the SOCIOINFORM center, the survey involved 2,676 online casino users. Here are the key findings:
Player Preferences:
- 86% prefer licensed online casinos
- 78% do not plan to switch to illegal operators
- 20% know people who play at illegal online casinos
Reasons for Choosing Illegal Brands:
- 33% cite quick registration without identity verification
- 17% value anonymity
- 16% appreciate the lack of restrictions and limits
Motivations for Playing:
- 40% are interested and want to try something new
- 21% wish to escape from daily life
- 20% are attracted by promotional offers
- 17% want to earn money
- 14% play due to friends' recommendations or for social reasons
Attitudes Towards Their Gaming:
- 59% consider gaming a controlled form of leisure
- 35% sometimes lose control over their gaming
- 23% have spent more than planned
- 9% have faced serious financial, family, or other issues due to gaming
- 6% often lose control over their gaming
According to the study, 64% of respondents are aware of responsible gaming tools, 66% know about self-control and self-restriction, and 40% are informed about spending and time limits. However, only 10% are aware of the registry of individuals with restricted access to gambling, and just 5% know about facilities that help with gambling addiction.
